The Chronicles of Lost Time&exhibition at Seoul National University Museum of Art is designed as part of a reflective reading of Korean contemporary art. Korean contemporary art has grown through the time of curved modern and contemporary history and is still changing in various forms. Early Korean contemporary art has developed with the concept of ‘modern’ as a mirror, sometimes as a milestone, of Western art. As a result, Korean contemporary art had difficulty in reproducing, expressing, and interpreting ‘now here, life in Korea’. From this point of view, The Chronicles of Lost Time&is an exhibition of Korean contemporary art’s footsteps and concerns about future discussions.
We visualized the concept of abstract words ‘time’ and ‘Chronicle’ through layers of layers accumulated over time. Through objects scattered and gathered in fragments, straight lines between them, and typography with various heights, we tried to visualize the footsteps of Korean modern art and the cultural soil that Korean art ‘now here’ is rooted in.
