Life: 탈북 여성의 삶은 탈북 여성의 증언을 기반으로 쓰여진, 어느 가상의 인물의 삶을 4편의 이야기로 재구성한 타이포그래피 설치 작업입니다. 그들이 고향과 가족을 등지고 두만강을 건너야만 했을 때, 낯설고 폭력적인 남자들의 손에 끌려 원치 않는 삶을 살아가며 어제까지 살아 있던 친구들을 자신의 손으로 땅에 묻어야 했을 때, 그 순간순간의 감정을 그들의 이야기에 자주 언급되는 ‘수용소’와 ‘고문 기계’의 형상을 가진 목조 구조물 통해 구현했습니다.

Life: The Life of a North Korean Woman&is a typography installation that reconstructs the life of a fictional character based on the testimony of a North Korean defector into four units. I interviewed them about how they crossed the Tumen River against their hometown and family, and how they had to live unwanted lives through the coercion and intimidation of strange and violent men. They also had to bury their friends and family in the ground with their own hands. I embodied the instant emotions they would have felt through wooden structures with the shapes of the POW camps and torture machines, which are often mentioned in their stories.
