70년만의 귀향은 도서출판 후마니타스에서 출판한 일제강점기에 홋카이도로 강제 연행되어 노동했고 세상을 떠난 뒤에도 돌아오지 못한 채 그곳에 묻혀 있던 사람들, 그리고 우연한 계기로 그들을 찾아내 고향에 돌려보내려 애쓴 사람들의 이야기를 담은 책입니다.
‘일본 안의 식민지’라고 불리는 홋카이도 출신의 승려인 저자는 식민 지배인의 자손이라는 점에 부채감을 느끼고, 일본에서 재일 한국인이 겪는 차별에도 괴로워한 청년이었습니다. 1976년 강제 노동 희생자들을 추도하는 위패를 보게 된 그는 망자의 ‘못다 치른 추도’를 하겠다는 결심으로 유골 발굴 작업을 본격화했습니다. ‘70년만의 귀향’에는 목격자의 증언을 통해 참혹했던 조선인 강제 징용 당시의 현장까지 세세하게 담겨 있습니다.
일상의실천은 70년 만에 고향으로 돌아오는 사람과 그를 기다리는 누군가의 모습을 수작업 일러스트레이션으로 표현하여, 책이 담고 있는 정서와 주제를 표현하고자 노력했습니다.

Homecoming in 70 years&is a book about people who were forcibly taken to Hokkaido in Japanese colonial era, worked, and who were buried there without returning even after their death, and who tried to find them and return them to their hometown by chance.
The author, a monk from Hokkaido called the “Colony in Japan,” was a young man who felt debt that he was a descendant of a colonial manager and suffered from discrimination experienced by Koreans in Japan. In 1976, when he saw a memorial tablet memorializing the victims of forced labor, he began excavating the remains in earnest with the determination to perform the “unfulfilled memorial service” of the deceased. Homecoming in 70 years&contains detailed testimony from witnesses to the scene of the time of forced Korean recruitment.
Everyday Prctice tried to express the emotions and themes of the book by manually illustrating the images of people returning to their hometown after 70 years and someone waiting for them.
