Organized by the Song Eun Cultural Foundation, <Chinese Contemporary Art from the Sigg Collection> exhibits the collection of Uli Sigg, one of the world’s most influential collectors of Chinese contemporary art. Uli Sigg came into contact with Chinese contemporary art during his first visit to Beijing in the late 1970s as an employee of a Swiss company. At the time, China was experiencing the end of the Cultural Revolution and dictatorship and the beginning of Deng Xiaoping’s Open Door Policy, which led to the Tiananmen Square protests in 1989. Chinese artists produced challenging works during this difficult period, and Uli Sigg discovered the potential of Chinese contemporary art while attending art scenes and informal art events. In the 1990s he began collecting Chinese contemporary art in earnest. This exhibition presents newly acquired works from Uli Sigg’s collection of Chinese contemporary art, which he donated to M+ Museum, Hong Kong.

Everyday Practice established the exhibition identity by focusing on the collector Uli Sigg. We linked typefaces that take the form of images and letters with motifs that symbolize the diversity and uniqueness of Chinese contemporary art, and used variations of Sigg’s name to characterize the exhibition of his collection.
