8th anniversary of Everyday Practice

송파동의 작은 창고에서 시작해, 이태원과 아현동을 거쳐 망원동에 새로운 작업실을 마련했습니다. ‘일상’과 ‘실천’이라는 얼핏 소박해 보이지만, 사실은 무거운 책임감을 동반하는 두 단어의 조합으로 이루어진 작업실의 이름은, 지난 시간 동안 때때로 나태해 지려는 마음을 다잡아준 길잡이가 되어주었습니다.
한편 지난 8년은, 작업을 통해 무엇인가를 이루어야 한다는, 우리가 할 수 있는 유의미한 발언을 이어가야 한다는 마음으로 쫓기듯 작업을 이어온 시간이기도 했습니다. 우리에게 실천의 방향은 대부분 작업실의 외부로 향해있었고, 오랜 시간 모니터 앞에서 작업과 치열한 논쟁을 벌여야 하는 작업자의 작업 환경에는 상대적으로 무심했었습니다. 8주년을 맞아 옮겨온 새로운 작업실은 지속 가능한 작업을 위한 환경을 만들고자 하는 일상의실천의 다짐이 반영된 공간입니다.
* 까다로운 요구를 모두 반영해 주고 쾌적한 작업 환경을 만들어준 포스트 스탠다즈 김민수 대표님과 디자이너님들, 예쁘기만 한 것이 아닌 매우 실용적인 지함과 스툴을 선물해 준 제로랩 장태훈, 김동훈 실장님, 차마 밥을 먹기엔 너무나 멋진 테이블을 만들어준 밀리언로지즈 최형문, 김주영 작가님, 번거로운 일들을 기꺼이 도와준 새로움 아이 안나 대표님, 작업실을 멋진 사진으로 담아준 김진솔 작가님 그리고 매일 새벽 일상의실천 위해 기도해 주시는 퍼스트 경일 김현호 사장님께 감사의 인사를 전합니다.

We started off in a small storage room in Songpa, from where we moved to Itaewon, Ahyeon, and now, to Mangwon. “Everyday” and “practice” are two seemingly naive words that, in combination, carry a deeper sense of responsibility that we all share as members of the studio. And this name has served as a source of motivation at difficult times.
For 8 years, we worked very hard to put out meaningful work. During this time, our focus was mainly outward, and that left us less concerned about our own work environment, where we would spend many hours challenging ourselves with new design problems every day. Our new workspace is the product of our effort to make a better, more sustainable environment for studio members.
* We would like to thank Post Standards for applying all of our demanding needs into the renovation plan, Zerolab for their both beautiful and practical stool and drawers, Millionroses for a table that is too nice to eat from. We also thank Saeroum Innovation for help with storage, Jinsol Kim for taking these great photos of our studio, and Mr. Kim from First Kyeongil for praying for the best of the studio every morning.
