The Democracy and Human Rights Poster Project is a project organized by the Korea Democracy Foundation to open the Democracy and Human Rights Memorial. It aims to reflect on the issues of state violence, anti-democracy, and human rights abuses and to record the visual language of democracy and human rights through posters.

The etymology of democracy is a combination of the Greek words ‘people (Demos)’ and ‘domination (Kratos)’, meaning that the people have the power of the state. However, in modern Korean history, the power of the people has been used by the dictatorship, and state violence has caused countless victims.

Everyday Practice talks about the democracy of Korean society in the past with two posters: populace (民) and authority (主). The narrow windows of the Namyeongdong building, symbolizing state violence and the will of the people to resist state violence, are represented by the cracked wall.
